Today we’d like to introduce you to Nayan Raina.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Thank you. The pleasure is mine. Well.. I started as a little kid growing up in India idolizing the legends on the likes of Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, The Beatles and tryna mimic them.. and then obviously made fun of.. coz they’d mock me like.. yeah right.. ‘you think you’re MJ or what’. The best thing is to prove the haters and doubters wrong lol. Anyways I was blessed to have traveled to Spain in my childhood which got my ears trained to listen to Latin music followed by growing up on R&B/ Hip Hop in Los Angeles, Ca which I’ve made my home for over two decades and I’m thriving the city of Angels.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Well that’s so true. Life is never going to be perfect but we must find beauty in its imperfections. Like everyone else I was always being stereotyped coz of my ethnic roots. I made it to the top 20 at the NBC TV’s show ‘America’s Got Talent’ where I auditioned live for celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan at the Orpheum Theatre Downtown LA. I was not selected but that drove me to work even harder.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I’m a singer/songwriter and I always think outside the box. I write multi genres. Pop/ R&B/ Rock/ HipHop/ Reggaeton… you name it. Oh and Bollywood as well. I’m extremely easy to work with. I love people and I’m extremely accessible.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Follow your heart and never ever give up. Keep going.. Even if you take small steps you’re better than you were yesterday.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me is accomplishing the goals you have in mind. It never pertains to wealth or fame.. Mental satisfaction is the best form of gratitude you can offer yourself
What’s next for you?
I’m going super global lol. Dropping my first Bollywood EP as well as my new Reggaeton single ‘ALIENTO’ I’m excited beyond words.
