Melodie Joy is Bilingual International Artist Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico raised in Bayonne, NJ; formally toured with Daddy Yankee, as a background vocalist, after doing the same for TV Shows “The Voice Kids” & Pequeños Gigantes. Her accolades are 2x Dove Nominees for “Best Spanish Language Album of The Year, and Featured Artist and Vocal Producer on multiple Latin Grammy Nominated Albums, as recently as 2019. As a Songwriter, she’s also placed her songs on TV, alongside the industries most renowned producers. I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
My mother’s cancer diagnosis has been really hard on us all. Although she’s been fighting it and conquering it bravely with God’s help. My primary focus has been on helping care for her alongside my father. For that reason my Singing Career has taken a backseat. You know the saying- “Family Comes First”. But we continue to press forward knowing there is a purpose for all the pain. For that reason, I may have delayed my career but I’ll never give up cause there’s a bigger purpose that flames the fire I have within that I need to share with anyone who’ll listen.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Besides being a Recording Artist- I love coaching other female singers to develop better singing abilities with Vocal Exercises, Techniques: Riffs/ Runs, Vocal health, & more). Whatever knowledge I can provide from my experience in this music industry, I will. What makes me different from most vocal coaches is that I’m a freak when it comes to studying the voice and how Artists produce the sounds they do. I’m an expert at mimicking! The point is not to sound like other Artists but to know how to manipulate your voice to do what it wants at any time. Then we can focus on developing your unique sound. As and added benefit to having my Protools Studio Set up at home, it allows me to work with many Artists & Producers providing my Vocal, Songwriting Services, and TV placements world wide.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Consistency is Key. Giving up is never an option. Find new ways to reinvent yourself and what you can provide to others. Staying flexible to learn new things and be willing on exploring other options will make us all better Singers & Artists in the long run.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is not only measured by the size of my bank account (that will come later), or how many followers someone has. To me, success is based on knowing who you are on the inside, for me that’s having Christ in my life, to share the power I posses by positively impacting others lives. My Voice is not my own. It’s meant to be shared with the world. And of course, being healthy and strong to run the race that’s been set out for me- That’s success!
What’s next for you?
I plan on continuing to write songs for Artists and TV placements and perform audiences small & large. I can’t wait to grown my songwriting catalogue and be a well respected Songwriter, Singer, and Artist amongst my peers and fans around the world. I’m always open to whatever opportunities come my way.
