Entrepreneur, Business Systems Analyst and Founder at The Wealthier Woman Says, “Don’t Give Up!”
Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Sommer.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Lots of failing forward! I didn’t always feel like I was making progress towards a wealthier version of myself or earning over six figures working from home online or having multiple sources of income. Instead… I often felt trapped by low-paying local market face-to-face positions and felt like I had no choice but to work in graveyard positions because I struggled with childcare and transportation issues, was trying to juggle school, being a wife and raising the kids, etc. For me, this started almost 20 years before COVID and the recent uptrend of at-home remote work before it was “cool” to work online. Then, I took the time to start researching online opportunities, learned more about how to better prioritize my mental endurance and invested time and money into learning from those who were ahead of me where I wanted to go. I was able to find amazing contract work as a freelancer, command higher pay for myself in W-2 positions, earn commissions from affiliate partner programs, pay down debt, build my credit score, but… especially, keep my lights on, food in the fridge and finally feeling a sense of security with my housing and transportation as a single mom. I was able to feel FREE to sit and journal on my porch in the sunshine, snuggle my kids more and let myself purchase a car that wasn’t falling apart, bought my brother a plane ticket to come visit me and SO much more.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Everything from poverty and being on welfare to being a single-parent and having to leave bad relationships or environments, saying no to opportunities that would have helped me pay the bills at the time but ultimately were against my core values. I often was working multiple jobs and sometimes juggling attending college or other training, having bad credit and no funding, having no childcare and of course medical issues and the usual life obstacles like grieving over family members or friends passing away and learning to accept that not everyone understands or supports my long-term goals. I’ve been married, I’ve been divorced. I’ve had to manage stress from working in small businesses and startups and equally – working for large campaigns, corporations and organizations in highly regulated industries with their own internal politics. Mastering systems and stress management as well as engaging in constant personal development has been challenging, but very worth it. I’m a mom of three and my youngest is non-verbal with Autism so that brings with it some extra fun life experiences, too, of course!
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I specialize in helping women leaders improve performance in life and business by creating organizational systems and automations with SAAS tool integrations. A woman in business that’s ready for intensive, high-energy and raw honesty in a transformational coach or program works well with me. If they know deep down that they’re on a life mission to help a lot of people, but also still want freedom and wellness in their lives so they don’t feel trapped or burnt out, I’m a good choice for those types of impact-oriented leaders. I will only work with people that are ready to move to their next level. I focus on helping people understand how better systems in their lifestyle, operational beliefs and business operations can work for them while sharing how they’ve worked for me. I really enjoy helping people get good results and helping them make changes that are sustainable and realistic for them. Not everyone wants to be or is meant to be a multi-billionaire, sometimes people just want to heal, serve better, pay their bills or… improve their business teams, etc. I tend to work well with small businesses and solo-entrepreneurs when I’m providing services or facilitating coaching or training. I think a lot of people may underestimate the action and preparatory work that must come when conditioning ourselves into being high-performers. I often see potential in a person or project and so I can be intense and very honest, but I haven’t lost my sense of humor yet!
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
It’s important to listen to people who have walked the path that you’re wanting to go down, but also to be brave enough to do things that work for you and your own natural strengths and areas you’d like to improve for your own goals and visions. I think this means having a strong foundation of support both externally as well as internally and to avoid people, environments or decisions that might disturb your compass as you’re trying to sail across an ocean of uncertainty towards your accomplishments.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
I often think that success is a synonym to a scientific term known as homeostasis. This is basically what occurs when several systems are running optimally together and often involves many pieces of a puzzle coming together. I think success for a person is whatever pulls your own pieces of the life or business puzzle together for you as an individual (or as a team) that creates a clear vision with a sense of accomplishment, peace and resolve and sometimes, a mixture of pride, confidence and growth.
What’s next for you?
A new brand, The Wealthier Woman, has launched! We’re doing a free challenge this month (January 2022) for women starting the first cohort in the middle of the month. The challenge is based on a training that first launched back in 2017. The Wealthier Woman Challenge focuses on helping challenge participants to develop, “Work At Home Mastery” skills. It will transform into a paid course and be available only to paid students and members starting in February, so this is a great chance for people to access amazing training in a 7-day online challenge and get started before the investment goes up.
