Exclusive Interview With Mr.Wastedd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mr.Wastedd.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

As a child I knew I was “different”, I have always been intrigued by different types of music & styles of fashion; which brought me to this occupation of being an Artist. I started creating music and my clothing at the start of the early 2000’s. For me, music and fashion go hand in hand. The music I produce is something I like to refer to as “Happy Hour”, which hints to my name “Mr.Wastedd”. In 2018, I started a company called “WastedLife Apparel” to push myself more aggressively into my career of being a fashion designer/Musician. I don’t like to use the word “musician” Because I don’t want to be placed in one specific category. I like to be called an Artist since the word has such a broader meaning to it. An Artist to me means someone who creates, whether it’s a logo design, an app for your phone, a painting from scratch, or the beat to a song. I am an Artist; I create.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Choosing between being an artist that represented music versus an artist that wanted to create fashion was a major challenge for me. MRWASTEDD is both Artist and fashion designer. In the early 2000’s, the obvious route for me at that time would have been to stick with the hip hop/rap genre but pop music lyrics came so effortlessly to me. I was drawn to the sounds of Keisha, Flo Rida and Taio Cruz. So I was faced with choosing between pop music VS the era of rap music that my peers were listening, following and producing in the music industry . Artist such as flo rida and Nicki Minaj helped fuel my music because they were able to dive into both hip hip and pop music and connect to both audiences and gain a loyal following. The clothing line that I have created represents the music that I produce. It began as a partnership, making graphic tees and hats that everyone in our clique wore but the partnership ended quickly because of opposite opinions regarding the direction of the brand and what it represented for me. These were challenges that I had to overcome and ultimately keep pushing forward to establish my myself and company

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I specialize in Producing music and creating fashion designs that represent my brand. Someone should work with me over the competition because I truly enjoy bringing people together from diverse backgrounds. I like to incorporate various entrepreneurs when I’m bringing my projects to life. For example; I recently completed a photoshoot for my latest upcoming release. I chose to used a friend who is a up an coming photographer. Whilst, having a more seasoned professional to direct along side with me to execute my vision. Being able to pair both of them together enabled a lot of fluid ideas to grow and ensured my amateur photographer to have an opportunity to learn in those moments. As a result of that momentary mentoring from both myself and the seasoned photographer, my friend has been receiving a great deal of positive feedback and reservations from new clientele. That excitement and gratifying experience is what I crave for not only for myself but for the people around me that I work with! There’s no better feeling then helping someone build their brand and watching them grow; that’s what separates me from the competition.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best piece of advice to find success in life would have to be- to take your time, there’s no rush in making new projects. This is key especially when it comes to the subject of fashion and music. Ensuring quality is of the utmost importance because you want your audience to appreciate and understand that dedication from came from yourself and your work. How can people appreciate you or your vision, if you haven’t taken the time to develop your craft. This brings me to say that my main focus is to gain an audience that will support my brand and following. I know that there are thousands of people who still haven’t seen my work, or heard my music. I never feel like what i have to offer is Irrelevant. Just because my work may be “old” to me; it will always be new to the eyes and ears that have yet to see or hear it.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

The word success in my opinion equals to creating generational wealth that will extend to my family , specifically my sons. My success is to aim for the status of having the wealth and connections to continue a business in which my life’s mission Carries on after I am gone. Furthermore, success ultimately for me means a cycle of residual income that will influence the community and culture that I have contributed to from my accomplished wealth and social status.

What’s next for you?

My next ventures consists of Launching my upcoming unisex bag line, which will be Available Spring 2022. Following my bag line release will be my new EP entitled- “Happy Hour 5PM”. Lastly, I am shopping for a business property to open my first store front for my apparel.
