Vegan, Cruelty Free, Phthalate Free Brand Started by a Minority Woman

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeWana Green.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

That’s a great question. I grew up in foster care put myself through college. But, I was determined to not let where I started to define where I could go. I have always loved creating things and sharing my creations with others. The story of Anecdote Naturals starts in 2017 when I started making natural deodorant after a breast cancer scare. With a minor in chemistry, I know that one of the most important parts of the human body is the skin. In fact, it’s our largest organ. What we put on it affects everything else. So I wanted to start there. Today, we make several products including coconut soy beeswax candles; disinfectants; natural makeup; sunscreen; soap; aroma diffuser oils etc. All of which are natural and helping our customers to be good to themselves.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The challenges I have had to overcome include financing my own business. Working full time in a corporate job while also running a small business.’ Lately, it’s finding and maintaining good workers. We deal with the current employment challenges faced by many companies. Also, growing our brand. There are the challenges of marketing and being small and having a limited budget.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

We specialize in the corporate gift space. If you want to provide gifts for your clients and or employees, we would be an excellent partner. We are diversity certified. Again, our products are natural. Made in small batches. We do many custom projects for clients. If you have a specific need, we would love to help you, please reach out to our sales and wholesale department via email anecdotebrands@outlook.com

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

The best advice I give for success is simply, work your own corner everyday and be the best at it. Eventually you will find success and success will find you!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success means achieving the intentions that are set daily for myself, my family, the brand and our customers.

What’s next for you?

We are working on expanding our brand into more stores. We have been a Wayfair partner for 2 years. We are looking to expand our reach and grow the brand.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?

If you want to connect with us, we are on Instagram and Facebook @anecdotenaturals our website is www.anecdotenaturals.com
