Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetria K. Davenport.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Thank you so much for having me. Born in Detroit and raised by my mother. I had to apply life’s lessons early because my mom transition when I was 20 years old, so I had to finish raising my 3 younger siblings. I always worked, sometimes 2 jobs, but it was never enough for me. I wanted something more, but I didn’t know what. One day a coworker introduced me to massage therapy, and I instantly fell in love. I enrolled in school in 2007 and founded Luxurious Essentials that same year. I did not waste another second wondering what I wanted to do as I stepped out on faith and quit my job. I was definitely nervous because I didn’t know what would happen, but since that time my business has taken a life of its own.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
As a small business owner, I am competing against franchise Massage Company’s, so of course I lack the resources to reach a larger demographic, so the quality of my services must be above and beyond. Finding staff who will understand and share these ethics is difficult, and that presents the biggest challenge. Also, the world of business has many uncertainties or things beyond your control but you have to be resourceful and crafty by enough to find a way to figure it out.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I specialize in foot pain relief and my ultimate goal is to help clients achieve a pain free life without relying on medication. One of the benefits of being a small business is I am able to monitor the quality of my service and immediately address any issues that my clients is experiencing. Localize cryotherapy allows me to address a clients concerns and develop a treatment plan to help them achieve a pain free lifestyle.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
There is no age limit success. Never give up on your dreams!
