Self-Worth Through Self-Care: A Journey To Confidence Through Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierra Lee.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

When I was young, I wanted to be a beautician. I loved everything about the beauty industry. I loved how a person could walk in looking and feeling one way and walk out completely different. The beauty industry provided confidence for many, whether they were the professional or the client. As I grew, I knew that I would one day work in the beauty industry. I didn’t fully know in what capacity, but I knew I would be doing something great. I started my official journey with cosmetology school, I was so excited until I realized that hair was not what I wanted to do. So, I went a while starting and stopping until I realized what I was truly looking for. The clients I was serving for makeup needed help with their skin, they wanted a flawless finish without a flawless base. This lead me to seek schools for skincare. I needed to be able to help my clients in more than one way. I wanted my clients to know that I care about their skin. My makeup business forced me to get into skincare. It is my mission to build self worth through self care and restore self confidence in the people of my community.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Self doubt was my biggest obstacle. Although I knew I had the skill and the desire to do what I was destined to do, I didn’t have the confidence. Throughout my journey, I was so sure that I would failed that I didn’t always try. I didn’t jump at opportunities, I didn’t push myself to get in front of more people. I just stayed stagnant. I had to find my confidence in order to provide confidence. It wasn’t easy but I had to learn to stop comparing myself to others and just walk in faith.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m a licensed esthetician and I provide skincare services for all skin types. My specialty is hyperpigmentation and acne. I do not believe in one size fits all. All of my treatment plans are designed around my client’s needs, lifestyle and ability to stay the course. My programs are geared solely toward results. Everyone loves a relaxing facial, but ultimately my goal is skin health and I do not sacrifice one for the other. I provide relaxing experiences that creates change.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Figure out what you do well, master it, then share it with the world. We are most successful at the the things we do well. Because when you do something well it makes you feel good, thus you start to love what you do. If you love what you do, you won’t mind doing it over and over.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me is freedom. The ability to do what makes you happy without worry. Many people do not have control over their life. They are reliant on a job they hate, they cannot take a vacation when they want or even at all. Success to me is generational! Success is ensuring that my family will have continued freedom through education, financial literacy, and family morals.

What’s next for you?

My vision is to have self running spas that has the ability to host monthly promotions that cater to the homeless and women in shelters. I believe the first step to recovery and growth is the confidence to do it. Our centers will offer free programs that provides services that will help them present themselves better. Clean them up for interviews and give them the confidence needed to get on their feet.
