It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
At 69 years young, there are various chapters of my life. Each chapter may appear like an old patchwork quilt. . .different colors and patterns but nevertheless one big comfortable covering.
In this interview, I want to share with you one part of the quilt – preparing for my passing. Yes, I’m serious – my death.
In my younger years, I was morbidly obese (weighing about 400 pounds) and therefore not qualifying for any life insurance plan. After successfully releasing about 240 pounds of excess weight, I now qualify for life insurance but because of my age the price is exorbitant.
Then, I was introduced to Assure for Life, a burial assistance plan provided by Proteccion Plenitud, Inc. And this plan will cover most of my funeral costs. Of course, I immediately signed up for the plan.
Here is why I signed up — it’s affordable funeral costs coverage. For me this is an answer to my prayers, because it means not leaving my family and friends with the financial burden nor the need to post a GoFundMe campaign for my funeral costs. Additionally, the same plan’s payment allows me to cover not only myself, but also six other individuals – family members, friends, or associates at no additional cost of the one low monthly rate of $75.
After the company’s training, I am now a sales associate of Assure for Life which allows me to easily earn commissions to earn enough than afford my $75 monthly payments.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Overcoming challenges is what makes one stronger and I have had my fair share of exercises in conquering challenges.
To name a few challenges there is becoming health by releasing over 240 of excess body weight.
Another challenge is overcoming the stigma of being labelled a federal felon together with becoming economically self-sufficient after the age of 65.
Overcoming these challenge alone is part of the reason that I am an Assure for Life associate. The commission earned from this business affords me to proceed to my next business venture PLUS become economically self-sufficient.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
What a great question. Actually, the truth is I really don’t think I have any competition but rather strategic associates for those individuals that may need some goods or services that I cannot provide.
First, I am a seasoned professional bookkeeper to small business owners plus I am an individual that easily makes friends with individuals in my community, regardless of ethnicity.
So, individuals that become my team member as an Assure for Life sales associate will gain some money-saving as well as money-making business information and systems. Because the experiences of overcoming my multitude of life’s challenges (morbid obesity, divorce, Federal prison, death of family-including younger siblings including suicide, and more) I can understand and empathize with my prospects and clients’ various challenges. This leads to my clients becoming more like friends.
My business associates and clients who become my friends are not a dollar sign but rather a true relationship to celebrate!
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
The meaning of success is definitely an individual interpretation.
What could be more fulfilling than giving a person a guilt-free send-off to heaven? Success, to me, means asking myself, “While on earth, how many people did you help, assist and, most importantly, SERVE.
Additionally, for me, success includes being in God’s favor, total family reunification and communication, love, and harmony with acquaintances as well as my own home and car.
What’s next for you?
First, to share throughout my community the two pathways that Assure for Life provides financial relief.
Then successfully launch IMA HustlerPreneurTM, the “fishing pond” for hustling business owners to catch the tools and courses enabling them to speak, read and understand the language of money!
Writing a booklet about my life’s journey as well as doing a TEDx talk titled “Being A Felon Can Be a Bad R.A.P.”

Part of my journey includes a stint in Federal prison for “aiding and abetting” in what the feds state was a crime. BUT I frequently share, just like Grandfather Joseph, you know the Joseph in Genesis, the person often remembered as the guy with a coat of many colors. Allow me to alert you to why I call him grandfather, he and I share SOOO many similarities especially the part about being falsely imprisoned but yet having a full recovery.
This too is my stance. In fact, I even quote his statement that he said to his brothers when they came to Joseph when they were seeking forgiveness for their youthful actions after the passing of their father. It is reported that Joseph advised them “although you meant it for evil, God meant it for good!”
I feel that statement is so true for me because of the various positive life lessons I too learned for this journey.
