Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Binns.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Michael Binns and I have been fortunate to start MREZ Sports and Myrecruitez.com with my partner and genius basketball mind Larry Suggs. We started off as a sports recruiting website which helped kids with recruiting for collegiate sports. Over the years we built and maintained strong relationships with college coaches. At first it was tough, but we kept grinding because it was for the kids. We didn’t charge a dime for the service. We just wanted to help kids from our community realize their dreams of playing college sports. Then we linked up with another mastermind Brian Sandifer, director of Grassroots Sizzle AAU and have not looked back since. It allowed for the development of Myfutureplay profiles where anyone with the system can take control of their own recruiting and contact every coach in America and get immediate results from doing it the right way. They can formulate their own sports resume, academics page, calendar for coaches, and highlight video page. They can send their information to any coach in any sport in America because the contacts are at the tip of their fingers. Easy as 1-2-3.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
The challenges along the way have been development of the software and streamlining it for student athletes looking for an edge in sports recruiting. Another, was getting parents and students to buy in and understand, “What you put into anything is what you will get out like everything in life.” You have to bet on yourself. The thing is, if you are good college coaches will find you…eventually or you can help them find you easier with more exposure which Myfutureplay profiles provide.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Currently, I am the director of MREZ sports and Myrecruitez.com. I also work for Minnesota Preps Rivals or minnesotaprepsrivals.com as the chief sports recruiting analyst. I write articles for coaches on student athletes for exposure on one of the largest online publications services in the world which is Rivals.com. It is under the Yahoo media empire. Over the years, my partners and I have assisted in the sports recruiting of some of the best high school athletes in America! What is unbelievable is a majority have gone on to major division one programs. And of those, twenty to thirty percent have gone on to play professionally! We know what we are doing. Our track record speaks for itself. We were fortunate to have former Myfutureplay alumni drafted in this year’s NBA lottery as well as the current number one high school player whom many believe will be the top selection in next year’s draft!
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
The best advice I have for readers, is to truly believe in yourself! Setbacks will happen and will be bitter, but it only makes success that much sweeter! Live life to it’s fullest and play every game like it’s your last.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me is when everyone in your camp is doing well as you! Success is being able to share your blessings with others so they can become successful in the end.
What’s next for you?
What’s next? We are currently working with the top high school athletes across the country developing a system of recruiting beneficial for everyone involved. We have been blessed to work with the top prep school basketball leagues this fall to create a platform for college coaches to follow. We want them to take notice of the superstars as well as the role players on teams because they all can find a college scholarship no matter the division. We are also working with organizations such as DRG Management, Rivals, and The Grind Session to host future basketball showcases featuring the top players in the country including this year’s Minnesota Shorty Classic Showcase featuring Kanye West’s Donda Academy team playing Minnesota Prep Academy. Both teams are loaded with division one talent! They play at the Target Center November 6, 2021. It’s going to be a special event! Matter of fact there will be two games at the Target Center, the first one starts on November 4th, 2021 with Superstar Mikey Williams and Vertical Academy. There also will be more games held at different sites ending with Donda Academy playing on November 6, 2021 at Target Center at 7 pm. There will be musical performances by artists from Kanye West’s record label. This will be an annual event held in Minneapolis around the same time from the Target Center. We are working on next year’s team invites.
