How Eddie Truong Turned Burnout Into a Purpose-Driven Coaching Brand

Most entrepreneurs build a business. Eddie Truong built a calling.

At just 18, Truong left Vietnam for the U.S. on a full scholarship, chasing opportunity with the quiet determination that defined his upbringing. Years later, after building a high-achieving engineering career in Dallas, he found himself living the dream — on paper. Inside, though, the pressure and pursuit had taken their toll.

“I had everything I was supposed to want. And I felt empty,” he recalls.

It was that moment of disillusionment that led to something greater — not just a career change, but a complete transformation. Truong left engineering and founded E.R.A. Coaching, a brand built on three pillars: Empowerment, Rediscovery, and Awakening.

When Hustle Breaks You, Healing Becomes a Mission

His path wasn’t clean or quick. Burnout pushed Truong into deep self-reflection, spiritual work, and eventually professional coaching certification through the Co-Active Training Institute.

But E.R.A. Coaching didn’t emerge from theory—it rose from lived experience.

“So many high performers are quietly drowning in expectations. I know, because I was one of them.”

That lived empathy now fuels his work: helping high achievers find the peace and identity they’ve long buried beneath performance.

Letting Go of the Mask

Early challenges? Plenty. But the biggest was shedding the idea that professionalism meant perfection.

“I kept trying to say the ‘right’ things. But when I dropped the image and told the truth, people responded.”

Vulnerability became his greatest asset. Speaking on stages, in coaching sessions, and online, Truong shared his journey with unfiltered honesty. In return, his audience didn’t just listen—they connected.

Advice from the Heart

For those just starting out, Truong offers a grounding perspective:

  • Start with impact. Serve one person well, then repeat.

  • Don’t isolate. Growth accelerates in supportive, aligned community.

  • Work on who you are. Your inner world shapes your outer results.

“When your presence is solid, your brand doesn’t need to shout. It speaks for itself.”

The Next Chapter

Today, Truong is building more than a coaching business — he’s growing a movement. With a book in the works (You Already Are), a planned TEDx talk on Mindfulness & Technology Addiction, and a vision to bring emotional intelligence into schools and leadership spaces, the future of E.R.A. is expansive.

“This isn’t just a business for me. It’s the most honest expression of who I’ve become.”
