Today we’d like to introduce you to Pretty Kurvz.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Turjemia, figuratively known as “Pretty Kurvz” on most social media platforms. I’m an author as I have been published twice in two literary projects. I am also a former fashion and lifestyle blogger for a celebrity publication known as “Full Blossom Magazine” as well as a blogger for the national syndicated radio show once known as, “Girl Power Hour” which was hosted by radio hostess, Jae Nash, of Atlanta, Georgia.
My first literary art piece, “Betraying Ayanna,” was published several years ago. It was inspired by some of my darkest life’s experiences. I’m also a survivor of mental, emotional and sexual abuse. I overcame this when I decided to turn my pain into literary art. I started writing my pain into words and it has helped me and many others along the way. I’m also currently working on my latest novel, “When Love Ain’t Enough.” It will be released by the beginning of next year 2022. I’m an entrepreneur and a social media influencer as well as a brand ambassador. I am a boutique owner. I launched my own fashion brand, “Pretty Kurvz Boutique,” earlier this year and it’s still growing as we speak. My fashion boutique offers trendy and stylish fashion pieces for mainly plus sizes. We also carry straight sizes as well. Our primary focus is to assist women of all sizes to feel confident about themselves in their own skin.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
It was definitely a challenging journey. However, I had to make sacrifices in my personal life in order to continue pushing myself. I transformed into being a strong-willed individual and I refused to fail at anything. I also moved away from my childhood friends and family in order to pursue my goals. I had to learn how to step outside of my comfort zone it allowed me to elevate myself. I’m considered as an introvert so I pushed myself into learning how to network outside of my inner circle by meeting other business-minded individuals. So far, it has worked out pretty well! I’m excited about the near future!
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Let’s see, I’m a writer of literary fiction, poetry, and several fashion blogs. I’m also an entrepreneur as well as a focused business woman. I’m multifaceted so it means you cannot easily place me inside of a box! Not only am I talented, but I’m extremely versatile as well. I am a lady of many titles and I wear plenty of hats. I consider myself to be unique over my competition because I am a dedicated team player. I believe in putting my best efforts into everything that I pursue.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Keep pushing yourself no matter what. Don’t listen to the negativity and please ignore anyone who is trying to discourage you! Especially, if they haven’t accomplished anything in life. You cannot allow others the opportunity to hold you back from getting to your dreams. Keep your eye on the prize. Never give up on yourself. Be your own cheerleader if you have to! If there’s nobody to clap for you, clap for yourself. Stay encouraged.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is when you’ve brought yourself far out of what used to hold you back and now you’re pushing it forward. Keep fighting until you get fully to the point of completing your goals.
What’s next for you?
Music is still in my heart. I’ve recorded a few songs over the years so I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio to record new songs. Also, I’m planning to write more books and I’m looking forward to seeing my fashion boutique soar into being a six figure business. I’d love to expand and hire a team to give people an opportunity to experience financial security.
