Exclusive Interview With Lakeesha Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeesha Rice.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My name is Lakeesha Rice A.K.A. Lakeesha Fuller. I’m married with two beautiful girls. I started singing at the age of three and was influenced by Nat King Cole and then Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. I won the Apollo theatre nine times first place. I opened up for Michael Jackson at the children’s choice award when I was 12 years old. I got signed at the tender age of 14 years to Mariah Carey label Crave Records. When Tommy Matola and her split up they shut the label down. Not too much later I got signed to RCA Records where I released two singles that charted on the billboard. I have graced the stage of the famous Soul Train and BET Teen Summit. Things took a turn for me and I got released from RCA and years later when i turned 25 I got signed to Capital Records. I was able to do a single with Jim Jones and Young Joc for my first single. It seems like I have had the worse luck when it came to the music industry, but I never gave up. After loosing my deal with Capital. I gave music a break because I was discouraged. I gave my life over to the Lord and got saved and I no longer sing secular music, but I sing for the glory of God. I competed in season nine BET SUNDAY BEST AND PLACE IN THE TOP SEVEN.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The challenges I had to face was having everything right before my eyes and loosing it before I can get a chance to enjoy doing what I love to do. Having my first daughter and not knowing if I would be accepted back in the music industry. Then taking a break and being off the scene for a while made me feel discouraged. Going through homelessness and sleeping in my car due to my pride.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m a worshipper and I enjoy singing to uplift people and encourage them during times of despair. I believe that people should choose to work with me because I have experience in the music industry and have been groomed since I was 13 years old. So I know the dos and don’t of the business. I’m a very hard worker and reliable, all I want to do is get the job done.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

I would tell the readers that no matter what you are facing. Homelessness, jobless, broken, or going through heartache don’t ever stop reaching for your goals. Always remember why you started doing what you love to do in the first place.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

I honestly don’t care to be successful I just want to be able to live comfortable and do the will of God.

What’s next for you?

I’m working on my album that should be out first quarter. I just wrote my first book that was released in May and I’m working on my second book that I self published. I’m putting out a healing journal for those who have been cheated on, lied to, or even been violated when they were younger. This journal is for the healing of your inner child so that you can enjoy your adulthood and learn to love yourself 100%
I’m also working on a shoe Line that I named after my children Na’Kai I can’t wait for the world to see what all I have to offer.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
