Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph W Griffin Jr the “Tax Deed Wolf”.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career in the US Army National Guard. I was a medic and then was sent to nursing school after a couple of deployments. After working as a nurse for a few years I realized that this wasn’t what I wanted. I knew I could do more! This is when I decided to pursue tax deed investing full time.
In the US whenever someone owns a property they have to pay property taxes. When they default on these taxes their property is taken by local municipalities and sold at an auction. These auctions are where I started to buy houses and land for literally under $3,000.
I realized that this was an opportunity that many people could benefit from so I decided that I wouldn’t keep it a secret. I started Tax Deed Wolf Academy so that I could help others get some of these same awesome deals. I later co- founded WolfPack Realty and Associates with Cassie Landron so that we could assist others with purchasing homes and helping their families build wealth. We help first time home owners as well as seasoned investors. We are investor friendly and currently use multiple real estate strategies such as Tax Deed Investing, BRRRR, Short Term Rentals, LTR, Multifamily, Seller Financing, Wholesaling, and more!
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
After deploying during OEF 13-14 I learned that life is not always easy. We all have obstacles in life that we must overcome. I have lost family members, friends, and even cut ties with business partners. Not to mention the money I lost when making poor financial decisions early on. We all have challenges but it’s our resiliency that determines the final outcome. One of my mentors always told me that, ‘The true test of a man’s character is how he deals with adversity”. When we face these challenges we must always remember our “Why”. These is your motivation to never give up! The worst thing you can do is stop in a storm; you must push through!
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I specialize in tax deed investing. this is a rare real estate niche in which we purchase properties in auction for pennies on the dollar. To give you a few numbers, we purchased an empty land parcel for $5,000 and then sold it 2 weeks later for $18,000. Another property was purchased for $15,000 and then sold for $130,000 same year, without even rehabbing.
What makes Tax Deed Wolf Academy different is that we teach a wholistic approach to investing. You can’t just know how to purchase property. A good investor must also learn asset protection, business structure, short term rentals, long term rentals, creative acquisition, due diligence, business credit and how to use other people’s money, tax deeds, and more! What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Find a Mentor and don’t give up! You can’t take the elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. By getting the right mentor you will have to climb less flights of stairs. Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success means living the life that you want to live. Knowing who you are, why you are here, and actually being that person that you were intended to be. For some people this means having money; for some it means owning land; while for some, it’s as simple as spending enough time with family. Regardless of what brings you happiness, I believe that once you can achieve this and retain it; you are successful.
What’s next for you?
I will continue on this mission of acquiring assets and helping others do the same. My goal is to become a billionaire and help millions of others achieve their version of success through real estate. Tax Deed Wolf Academy members have purchased over 100 tax deed and tax lien properties. We plan to increase this number to 1000 in 2023!
