Exclusive Interview with Cedric McDougle – Founder of Summer Oasis Music Festival

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric McDougle.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

By discovering my passion which has become my purpose. And being committed to creating unique experiences that has the ability to touch and change lives is all the motivation I need. So getting me to where I am today is just the drive to see people free and happy through music, culture, dance and the love of outdoors & nature.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Perceptions and mindsets. Lots of people have old perceptions on what camping used to be from when they were kids. A cheap tent that leaked when it rained And bugs everywhere.

“Glamping” means glamorous luxurious camping.  It’s a very high-end outdoor experience. So getting people to open their minds up to a new experience is the main challenge. But I’m committed to changing old perceptions with a new reality and that takes people beyond their paradigm. And that’s when they fall in love with the experience I’m giving.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I specialize in uniquely crafted musical outdoor experiences. And Glamping (glamorous luxurious camping) is how I do it. And people should work with me because my music festival is committed to pushing the envelope beyond normality to the point that it transcends preconceived notions and conditioned expectations.

Changing all perceptions with the new reality. Most people and music festivals don’t even think like that. You pay your money, you listen to live acts and then go home. That’s it!

I don’t just give a product; I give an experience. And that’s what separates me from the rest because I am dialed in on that experience that will touch people in ways never before felt. And that’s what makes me different than my competitors. They give products, but I curate experiences.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Endeavor to conduct yourself in a manner in which others will be proud to follow. And strive to grow into your Divine purpose. Why? Because purpose defines your life. How? By giving it clarity so you can see. And clarity brings about focus so you can see where you need to be. And focus brings about direction so you can navigate the best path to get there. Purpose does all that for your life.

So my advice would be grow into your Divine purpose. And to do what you love! Because when you do what you love, you’ll become great at doing it and money and opportunities will find YOU.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

The ability to touch someone’s life through what you do and being of service to others. Money does not make you successful. Cars and houses don’t make you successful. Because when you die you can’t take any of that with you. But how others speak your name after you’re gone is your mark of success. And that’s accomplished through being of service to others.

What’s next for you?

My goal is to continue elevating the profile of Historical Idlewild Michigan on a national scale. Also my vision and goal is to strategically select historically Black owned campsites and waterfronts that were started by former slaves and descendants of slaves.

I want to bring my music festival there to help revitalize them like I did in Idlewild Michigan. I would eventually like to produce four music festivals a year, winter, spring, summer and fall. So it’s a music festival with a purpose!

My vision is to highlight historically Black owned campsites that are struggling and bring them new ideas, new energies, new events and an influx of money from people attending these events and rediscovering and discovering for the first time new places that our ancestors built for us. This is what’s next for me!
