Exclusive Interview with Blvck Squad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blvck Squad.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I’ve always been a music lover. I am an African born artist and music producer from Cameroon and currently living in Germany where I am completing a master program in International marketing and media management. My passion for music came to live in the year 2005 when I was in my college years and I used to write some unsung lyrics down just to please myself. I entered into the music world as a music producer in my second year of university where I was studying advertising for my bachelor degree. So I started by working with my cousin (Mister jo) and later on with some local artists in Cameroon ( Evindi, 5thez, Ange yaousson etc.. ), as an artist manager. I also did work with some record Label (alizé Equateur records) not as an artist but as a member of their communication team. After I left my country to pursue my education, I started thinking about launching my personal career and so here we are, with me preparing my first Ep titled Am Alive.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

You can’t really enjoy something that comes to you so easily. And I do believe every path to success if filled with many obstacles to overcome. I had so many difficulties back in my home country, starting from being scammed so many times by people promising to help you in exchange of a certain amount of money, or facing difficulties to finding reliable peoples to work. As I said above I started as a little producer and manager working on developing others careers due to the lack of sustainable funding to launch in solo career alone, I had to team up with some artists who had better chances of making it to the top and eventually carry us along in case of success. I ended up investing all I had, but they failed to even mention me on their project whereas I financed it all. The betrayal was difficult to swallow that I went through a depression and I wanted to quit everything in relation to music. Luckily I received so much support and here we are today talking about my first ever solo release with 6 six differents countries represented in my Ep.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

On a personal level I know where I am heading to and what I want, this is greatly thanks to my educational background as I am currently completing my Master degree in International marketing and media management ( HMKW Frankfurt) with a specialization in the music industry world and it’s surroundings. This really helps in my career as an artist because I don’t only think that as an artist when planning on new releases but also as a marketer, that is analyzing what could please my potential public and if they are going to like what they listen. This is very beneficial if wanting to work with me and my Ep will be a reflection of that as you could listen to a variety of music genres in a single projects which includes artist from 6 different countries ( Cameroon, USA, Jamaica, Argentina, Nigeria, and Madagascar).

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My advice to readers is to set no limitations to your dreams. Don’t let someone tell you to be more realistic when talking about your dreams or aspirations. What is the need of being realistic in a dream, which is something immaterial until you make it come to live by achieving and realizing it.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Happiness is the word I usually associate with success. You know are successful when you are a vector of happiness distillation around you.

What’s next for you?

I think what’s next for me is my appointment with success. And more distillation of happiness to my fans all over the world.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
