It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My Wife and I had been looking for fresh and locally grown microgreens for some time and did not find any options. We also wanted the Microgreens to be delivered to the door but we could not find a program that offered it. After talking to some friends about it, we found that others also wanted to find a local microgreens farmer as well. Then we embarked on starting Gleeful Greens. Which is a local Microgreens farmer that delivers directly to the door.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
The biggest challenge we had was the learning curve to grow the different types of Microgreens such as Snow Peas, Raddish, Broccoli, and Sunflower. Maintaining the different types of care is a full-time job for sure but it is worth it when you yield a beautiful crop of Microgreens and hear how good they taste from our customers!
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
We specialize in the direct-to-consumer space. Meaning we serve the public directly and deliver directly to the doorstep. We are going to start selling to local restaurants as well soon. However, the biggest “leg-up” that we have is how we are convenient and relatively the same cost. As well as our “Grow to Order” model which allows for the freshest Microgreens possible.
What’s next for you?
We will be offering our Microgreens to local restaurants in Columbia, SC soon. That will be the next step for Gleeful Greens! Coming to a restaurant near you!
