Black Girl Vitamins & Kahawa 1893 Partner to Empower Black Women For Women’s History Month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago, IL., March 2025 — This Women’s History Month, Black Girl Vitamins (BGV) and Kahawa 1893 are empowering thousands of Black women to turn small intentional steps into groundbreaking success. Rooted in the theme of Small Steps and Big Power, this partnership celebrates the power of consistency and feminine strength.

Black Girl Vitamins and Kahawa 1893 are united by a similar mission of empowering women through health and financial equity.

In 2018, Margaret Nyamumbo left her finance career on Wall Street to establish Kahawa 1893. Her mission was to bring overdue justice to Kenya’s women coffee farmers while celebrating the rich, African origins of coffee. Although women provide 90% of the labor in Kenya’s coffee sector, they have historically received little compensation due to land ownership restrictions. Nyamumbo transformed the industry by directly sourcing coffee from these farmers and allowing customers to tip them. Today, Kahawa 1893 ensures that these women receive the pay and recognition they deserve for their incredible work!

Black Girl Vitamins was founded in 2021 with hopes to improve the overall health outcomes for Black women in America. From a lack of representation in healthcare to limited access to quality supplements, the team knew it was time for an industry change! They carefully curated a product line addressing Black women’s specific needs that now serves over 200,000 women. BGV continues to close the health gap each day with science-backed products and a $100K scholarship fund supporting future Black healthcare professionals.

To commemorate the partnership, customers can purchase a limited-edition Women’s History Month Bundle, which includes:

  • Kahawa 1893’s Serengeti or Safari Blend K-Cup Pods
  • Black Girl Vitamins’ Collagen Powder Tub
  • Handheld Frother
  • Exclusive Women’s History Month Tote Bag

This blend of dark roast coffee and all-natural collagen is not just a rich, protein-packed start to a productive day. It symbolizes the energy, beauty, and power that small steps bring.

Together, these brands celebrate the power of small steps because when women are supported, their impact is limitless.

About Kahawa 1893

Kahawa 1893 is a Black-owned specialty coffee brand offering a variety of premium blends and bundles founded by Margaret Nyamumbo. The coffee is sourced directly from Kenyan women farmers who are the backbone of the industry, yet excluded from ownership and fair pay. Since appearing on Shark Tank in 2023, Kahawa 1893 has transformed that narrative by ensuring these women receive the compensation and recognition they deserve.

Available via the website, Amazon, Trader Joes, Sprouts, and Target, each bag of coffee has a QR code attached for customers to send a 100% tip to the farmers. Through this method, Kahawa strengthens the way coffee farming supports women financially.
