After their collaboration in 2020 with “You Better Surrender / When The Night Never Dies”, which remained for several weeks at the top of Record Report’s Rock Billboard in Venezuela, no one would have imagined that we would hear these great talents together again, especially after the unfortunate death of Jorge Spiteri in May of that same year. However, fate and technology have made the unexpected possible.
An original recording rescued from a voicenote recorded on an iPhone 6 captures Jorge Spiteri’s voice with Arlon while they were composing this song at Jorge’s house. From that moment, only a single photo remains, the cover of this single, which immortalizes a collaboration that seemed lost.
“On The Road Again” is a song produced by Arlon together with Carlos Imperatori, who also does the mixing. It features Francesco Imbriago as mastering engineer, and the result is a true musical gem that brings back that rock sound that is part of our collective. In Arlon’s words, “in 2019, we started our composition sessions in his apartment in Caracas, with the aim of creating the vocals for several songs on the album.
That day, several discoveries arrived, including a loop of what would become On The Rond Again; I remember that Jorge was really excited about the idea of composing and going on tour… Then Jorge started improvising with his voice and the keyboard, looking for a friendly melody. On one of those trips, he sang: I’m on the road again thinkin ’bout the sorrows and the pain… it was our Eureka Moment and it was all recorded on the iPhone.”
In 2024, Arlon, together with Carlos Imperatori and thanks to the “plug-in” (a piece of software that helps another system perform a specific task), managed to isolate Jorge’s voice from the
voicenote. In that recording there was his voice and the guitar. Despite the technology, the voice could not be separated from the B part, but the result is a song that takes care of the virtues of both artists and highlights the harmonic talent of this duo.
