Voice, Faith, and Freedom: How Michelle Cardinal Is Helping Others Heal Through Song

For years, Michelle Cardinal searched for healing through every modality under the sun—reiki, plant medicine, hypnosis, and countless somatic therapies. But nothing brought lasting freedom.

Today, she is the founder of Sing With Chelley, a Christ-centered voice coaching platform designed to help people reclaim their voices and release trauma through singing. And she’s doing it with one message at the core: Jesus is the only true healer.

“Singing saved me. But it wasn’t until I met Christ that my voice truly carried power,” Cardinal says.

From Outcast to Outlet

Growing up in a conservative religious environment in a small town, Michelle felt like the “black sheep”—too bold, too expressive, too much. But singing gave her life.

“I started singing at age three. It was the only place I felt fully alive,” she recalls.

That passion followed her through years of personal trauma, including childhood and adult sexual abuse. Her healing journey included nearly every spiritual practice—until it led her to Christ.

The Breaking That Made Room for Rebuilding

The early days of her business were marked by pain. After closing her salon to pursue her calling full-time, Michelle experienced homelessness, depression, and doubt.

“I lived in a bus on Mt. Shasta with my 3.5-year-old daughter. We didn’t have food or gas. I felt like a failure,” she shares.

What sustained her was not a mindset hack or spiritual ritual—but the voice of God.

“In my lowest moments, I’d hear Him whisper, ‘Keep going. I have a plan.’ That voice changed everything.”

One Night That Changed Everything

The turning point came the night she gave her life to Christ. While singing a praise song, Michelle felt the Holy Spirit flood her body with a wave of healing and sobs.

“I had spent years chasing spiritual highs. Nothing compared to this. Nothing was as real.”

That moment redefined her life and her work. She stopped seeing herself as the healer and began pointing others to the only One who truly heals: Jesus.

Advice to Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Michelle’s advice for others is clear:

“Surrender to Christ. You’ll never build lasting success on your own strength.”

She encourages others to pray often, join a Bible-based community, and sing their prayers. “You don’t need to strive—invite Jesus in, and He will move mountains.”

Looking Ahead

Michelle’s next chapters are already in motion. Her children’s book, Sing With Me, will be released on December 1, 2025, offering young readers a playful yet powerful introduction to voice and worship.

In Spring 2026, she’ll release Why We Sing—a deeper exploration into the role of praise, voice, and spiritual authority in everyday life.

“These books are invitations. One for children, one for seekers and believers. Both are meant to glorify God.”
