Detroit’s Kim Brooks: A Tale of Literature, Faith, and Film

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I specialize in storytelling that entertains and inspires faith-centered singles, especially women. My approach is down-to-earth, blending faith with real life relationship situations in order to kindle spiritual growth. I encourage individuals to embrace their self-worth and value and discover their divine calling which leads to fulfilling, purposeful lives, peace within and better choices.  I stand out from my competitors because I have a sincere passion for what I do and because I am a relatable reflection of the group I’m called to serve.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success?

Have faith and believe in yourself and your God-given vision. Don’t let other people discourage you from doing something artistically that hasn’t been done before, it just may be that you’re the one who is called to do it and be the innovative disrupter who brings fresh ideas that your audience will enjoy.

Also, don’t give up. Some days you will wake up and say to yourself, “What am I doing?” and you may feel clueless, unqualified and even question your efforts at times, but know that God put the desire and mission in your heart for a reason and remember that God doesn’t call the qualified He qualifies the called and that with the Lord on your side along with good intentions you will never be steered incorrectly.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me success means living out the complete purpose for which God put me on this earth which includes being a blessing to His people and a light to the hurting and utilizing the gifts and talents He has given me because they were given to me for His glory.

If I can leave this earth and have someone say I or my work blessed his or her life in some way or encouraged them during a dark time and gave them just what they needed to continue on, then to me that means success.

 What’s next for you?

I will continue writing novels that will be adapted into feature films that will be red carpet premiered locally and ultimately streamed online whether through Tubi, BET Plus, or various streaming networks while still continuing to encourage and nurture my target audience through devotionals and my online presence.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
