Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Daskalakis.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I always had a passion for two topics: spirituality and personal finance. At 18 years old I landed a selective internship on Wall Street where I learned from true money masters.
It took me a while before I transformed my own situation. It took a four year bachelor’s degree concentrated in International Finance, a second Wall Street job and reading every personal finance book under the sun to really grasp the topic.
These days, I create courses, coach and do keynotes on how anyone can immediately put into effect what took me so long to learn and master.
Now my 12,000 Instagram followers get to immerse themselves in the teachings… I think people resonate with my work because it took my so long to learn this and they want my perspective in addition to a speedy path forward.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I remember living and working in New York City. I didn’t know how to spend intelligently. Didn’t know how to invest, build credit or manage debt. Even though I had a good salary, at the end of the month I’d start again from zero. It wasn’t until I moved back to my childhood bedroom that I decided I had enough of being a financial amateur. It was time to turn professional with my personal finances and truly learn what it means to live a lifestyle supplemented by passive income and spending on what truly brings me joy. Whether I was currently earning a high income or low income (when I lived in my childhood bedroom as a 20-something year old) I knew the next best move to make financially and eventually taught that to my students. It’s all about automating systems and having a long-term mentality.
Spiritually and mentally, I felt lost younger and for periods in my twenties. It really took challenges to awaken to a deeper dimension. Finding my purpose really put rocket fuel behind everything I did and clarified my path as a money coach that also teaches living spiritually.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
As I mentioned earlier, I am a coach, course creator and speaker on the topic of personal finance and money. Spending smart, investing like the pros, building credit, managing debt and increasing income whether through a job or entrepreneurial venture.
The second topic is spirituality, books like The Power of Now really helped me reach my inner zen. I see life as two parts: the external and the inner. Externally we are after abundance and greater expression of ourselves. Internally, we must live from our soul, trust intuition and let divine guidance move us toward our inner evolution. Is that not why we are here?
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Follow your destiny. It is a paradox but we are both the captains of our ship and guided by larger, higher forces. Master the foundations like money to truly be able to live your potential. We don’t all need to be multi-billionaires but security and growth financially is available to everyone reading this article, if they take massive action. Peace of mind comes from mastering what you can control and finding acceptance in everything else.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Being in touch with your inner self. Having the time-freedom to dedicate to your evolution. Having the seeds planted yesterday generating the fruits of the present. Being in acceptance with the Now as if you have chosen it and participate in the unfolding of your life. Being free of worry with money to explore life!
What’s next for you?
Expanding my offerings from purely personal finance to spirituality and relationships. Both topics have been a journey and I look forward to instruct and inspire others on how to walk both paths simultaneously. Life is not always either/or. Start thinking of embodying. Life will always bring challenges but equipping my students with both a map and faith is the recipe for true magic.
