Today we’d like to introduce you to Chauntae Hammonds.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello. My name is Chauntae. I am a licensed esthetician from San Antonio, Texas. I’ve been licensed for 4 years. I became an esthetician because of my love for skincare and lashes and I was working in corporate America. I was barely making means meet and I needed a change. I always wanted to do lashes but oddly enough when I got in school I absolutely hated lashes. My instructor encouraged me to start waxing and I absolutely fell in love with it. Being an entrepreneur came easy to me and I truly love what I do. I quickly went from making 40k a year working in corporate America to over 40K a month.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
After graduation, I immediately started my business. The biggest obstacle I faced was having to rebrand because someone in another state stole my entire brand, trademarked it, and sent me a cease and desist. I had to build my brand over from the ground up. At the time, I knew nothing about trademarking. Now, I’ve educated myself and I have a legal team that assists me in business.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
So my salon Wax Snob Studios specializes in Brazilian waxing and intimate skin repair. We want our guest to not only feel comfortable but we want them to reach their skin goals. A lot of women have insecurities when it comes to their intimate area. I think that my company stands out above the competitors because we are not “just a get waxed quick” business. We educate them about their skin and provide a space where they don’t have to be embarrassed about their skin issues.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Success starts in the mind. I think if you want true success, you have to decide in your mind that no matter what obstacles you may face you will press forward to reach your goal of success.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me is living the life you aspire to live. Rather it’s to travel whenever you’d like or have a certain amount of money. Success also means doing exactly what it is you want to do. My favorite quote is “Picture yourself in your minds eye as having already achieved this goal. See yourself doing the things you’ll be doing when you’ve reached your goal.” — Earl Nightingale
What’s next for you?
I’m currently in the process of opening my second location. In 2022 my goal is to have 4 full service waxing salons. I also am in the process of relaunching my coaching program for recent esthetics graduates. I want to help them start their businesses and teach them how to operate successfully.
