Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette Wells.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Williamsburg, VA and the oldest of nine children, I was born a leader. I went attended college at Shaw University an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) in Raleigh North Carolina where obtain my bachelor’s in criminal justice, and then went on to obtain a Masters’s from North Carolina Central University in Durham North Carolina. With all of my degrees and accomplishments, I still knew that I wanted to do more.
I have always wanted to start my own business but I just never knew what exactly. One thing that I knew I loved, was the beauty industry and especially beauty products. I did some research and started my soap making business. I started off making soaps for my family and friends and turned my passion into my business. I went to my first pop-up event in Charlotte,North Carolina and a lot of people were asking me about skincare. Yes, I did my research on my soap products and the benefits of my ingredients. However, I wanted more experience. That’s when I enrolled in school at Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill, NC to become a license Esthetician. In school I found my passion for not only my soaping business but also my interest in waxing! Thus creating J’allure Beauty Esthetics in Raleigh, NC where I have my own suite.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Through the eyes of everyone it may look easy however, entrepreneurship takes time and a lot of patience. One hurdle that I did face was Covid like most of the world. I ended up completing school during Covid. This made me nervous because I wanted to start my business right away. I had to figure out what would be my next move or what I was going to do. Trying to make the best of the situation in this unforeseen time. I took the negative as a positive and then started to work at a waxing corporation. While working there it taught me the speed of waxing and different waxing techniques. It also taught me Marketing, sales techniques, working with different clientele, as well as handling difficult situations. Who would have known that this hurdle would be a blessing in disguise?
What I saw as a challenge turned out to be the journey I needed to take.This journey has had some ups and downs through everything I have maintained resiliency and stayed focus on my goals and my passion.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Stay focus and determine what you want to achieve is possible if you believe in yourself. Never let FEAR or the thought of failing stop you from reaching your full potential. Things will never go as plan, but the trick is how you handle the bumps and curves in the road will decide your success. Stay focus and never give up!
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is being able to reach my goals and see my vision come true. I want to leave a legacy and create generational wealth.
