Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Okpara.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey actually started at 14 years old when I tried to take my life. I felt incompetent and had no reason for being alive. A failed suicide attempt led me on a quest to identify “WHY”. Why am I alive? Why am I here?
If I couldn’t successfully kill myself, there must be a reason for my life. Searching for my purpose, finding it and thriving in it created a burning desire in me to help others find their purpose in life and thrive in it.
This drive is what fuels my initiatives, books, and entrepreneurial endeavors. I don’t want another person ending their life because they never discovered purpose.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
My journey was definitely an interesting one. At 7 years old I lost my mother and tried various means to deal with my grieve. Suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety and fear were things I had to fight off.
Dealing with a loss at an early age led to me being afraid of uncertainty. Which initially was a stumbling block to me achieving my dreams. Dealing with a lack of support, disbelieve, isolation and feeling unqualified because of my age.
I had to face me; because I was in my way. Confronting myself and my shortcomings were the key that opened the door of opportunities you see today.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I specialize in helping people find their Purpose and thriving in it. Whether in the marketplace or ministry, Purpose is critical to success. Understanding purpose is the prerequisite to having any successful initiative.
I help people, ministries and businesses with understanding their purpose, and discovering their solution. With companies I sit down with their employees and help them understand the importance of being of one mind. Generating principles that will promote excellence in the company.
Anyone should work with me because I am a proven model. At 26 years old, publishing 10 books, launching a successful ministry and nonprofit for 5 years with various verified testimonials on the impact I have had in their lives. I do not do this for a career, I live and breath on helping others find purpose. if I stopped doing this, I die. It’s my passion, it’s my life, it’s my solution to the world.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
My best piece of advice is find purpose first. Success cannot truly be defined because it is individual to you. Some see money, cars, or businesses as success, and they attain those things only to still feel purposeless.
Find your purpose first. What is the solution you were created on this earth to accomplish? That purpose is the pathway to your personal success.
Discover purpose and you will discover success.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is simply the result of accomplished purpose.
It is not monetary or resources. Success to me can not be effectively defined if purpose is not defined. When you understand your WHY, discovering your purpose, and actually fulfill THAT purpose; then you are successful.
What’s next for you?
I want to travel to cities, states and countries all over the world teaching people on purpose. Helping company staff and employees understand their purpose. School districts and ministries understand their purpose.
It is my personal goal to help at-least 1 billion people find their purpose before I die.
