Staci Vanzant believes that is precisely why chronic stress among helping professionals deserves a closer look.

Vanzant, LCSW, NBC-HWC, is a licensed therapist, board certified health and wellness coach, and founder of Living Mindfully, LLC. After more than two decades working in the mental health field, she is expanding her work into keynote speaking, workshops, corporate wellness programming, and restorative retreats.

Her central argument is straightforward: people cannot build sustainable careers around continually giving without meaningful recovery.

“Those who spend their lives caring for others often become the last people they care for,” Vanzant says. “My mission is to help the helpers help themselves by making self care a professional strength rather than a personal luxury. When caregivers are supported, everyone benefits.”

That distinction matters. Vanzant is moving the conversation away from self care as an occasional escape from work and toward practices that help people recognize chronic stress, regulate their response to it, establish healthier boundaries, and preserve energy for the long term.

Building a Career That Can Last

The company has completed its second retreat and is accepting reservations for future experiences. Vanzant’s participation in Speakpreneur’s speaker development event also marks a new phase as she brings her message to conferences and organizations.

The larger idea has relevance well beyond wellness programming.

Sustainable performance requires more than asking how much someone can accomplish. It requires considering how long they can continue working at that level without losing their health, relationships, or connection to the reason they entered the profession.
