Priscilla Jaya, the Human Alchemist is Pulling People from the Jaws of Suicide

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Jaya.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

A dream that was born when my brother died by suicide is what I am living today. My purpose was born out of pain. As I buried my brother, I determined to be every brother/sister’s keeper. My dream was to take mental health and CPR education to everyone, since I failed to see my brother’s signs and as an ICU RN I have revived many people, but my brother did not receive any CPR. That impacted me a lot.
But it was not easy nor the process quick.

Life is very funny – I would have taken mental health education and have had no clue about what it is to suffer with mental illness, and that would have been me doing my part. But, life has it’s own way of carving your purpose. I was diagnosed with severe PTSD, Depression and I became extremely suicidal and that was my wake up call. A still small voice challenged me about my dream of saving other brothers and sisters as I contemplated my own suicide. It was my wake up call. After intense treatment and therapy – I set myself on a journey of learning, invested in becoming an accredited mental health first aid trainer, and eventually a Trauma Therapist. I not only have the head knowledge today but also the experience of lived mental illnesses and the desperation of ending my life. I am able to connect with my clients better and get amazing results for them.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Great questions. Challenges are good, they reveal a person’s fortitude, commitment and tenacity. I have faced many challenges on my journey, grateful for the strength gained through them and the lessons learned.

Relationship breakdown which led to me becoming a single mum, was the first challenge – this one set me on a entrepreneurial quest.

Medical challenges on the way only intensified my desire for freedom from a job. Loss of job, being on welfare, having a child to care for being sick revealed to me my inner strength and the ability to trust those around me.

Dealing with chronic pain and the severe impacts of pain medications was debilitating and impacted my articulation and thinking.

Diagnosed with PTSD and depression and the hopelessness which led to suicidal tendencies.

But through all these challenges I was made. Just like an alchemist works on a piece of crap to bring out the gold, I had to go through my making. And rightfully so, today I specialise in transforming lives being a human alchemist.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

In a nutshell I am a Human Alchemist – bringing about transformation.
My superpower – pulling people from the jaws of suicide.
I am a Speaker, Trainer, Coach and Trauma Therapist.
I specialise in Leadership, Wellbeing, Mental Health and Trauma.
An ex Intensive Care RN a forever nurse.
A sister on a mission.

As a result of what I do, people have gone from wanting to die by suicide to creating extraordinary lives. From being stuck in despair, pain, sameness, chaos to finding freedom, love, peace, from being depressed, anxious, paranoid to healing from depression, anxiety, ptsd etc. People have gone from hiding their true self to owning themselves and shining in their area, from low self esteem to becoming confident and knowing they are enough! The list is long…

I don’t believe in competition. This world has enough for all. The clients who resonate with me, will come to me. I don’t mind referring clients to others, I don’t believe in scarcity.

That does not mean I should sit on the sidelines and do nothing, I believe in marketing, I believe that I have to show case my services to the world otherwise I would be doing a great disservice.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Success means different to different people.

I would say be true to your ownself, don’t give up on yourself, you are your own rescuer, do not wait for the world to come to rescue you.

It is okay if you are down, stay down for a bit, but get up slowly, mark that spot where you fell, so you don’t fall there again.

Life is about learning, failing, trialing, failing. Just like the time you learned to walk. You fell hundreds of times but you got up, you never gave up and you walked, you crawled, you stood, you walked and you ran. You are still standing.

Do not give up on yourself.

Your failures are your success steps – the lessons build your character.

Do not give up on HOPE!

You Matter, You are Precious and I love you – whoever you are.

Love yourself. Success is chasing you.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me success means – hanging on the thinnest cord of life.

When I laid on my death bed, I was 30 seconds away from executing my plan of taking my life. Thank God for the still small voice and those 30 precious seconds of my life. To me that decision to live again, that glimmer of hope, that act of saying YES TO LIFE – is success.

We have the power to choose, and everyday I make this choice. Every choice I make is a success to me. I am powerful cos nobody else chooses for me, I get to choose! That is success to me.

Loving my family is success to me, seeing my daughter grow up and flourish is success to me.

Every time a suicidal client says Yes to life and creates life is success to me.
Success is bringing about healing, aiding transformation, spreading hope.
Success is Significance.

What’s next for you?

I see a lot of speaking engagements coming my way.
I will be busy alchemizing( transforming).

There is so much fear and pain in the world, I wish to be part of the solution. I see myself as that butterfly of Hope from pandora’s box, kissing some pain away and bringing about healing and transformation.

A lot of travel is in line.

I will continue doing what I am good at, I will continue spreading my message of hope, I will continue my brother’s legacy.

Therapy, Speaking, Coaching, Enjoying Life with all its goodness.
