Recognition has followed Paul H. Flowers Jr. across several corners of his professional life lately, but the common thread is less about awards than the work behind them.
The founder and CEO of Superior Insurance Advisors was recently included by Black Leaders Worldwide among its “2026 Men You Need To Know,” joining a group of leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, innovators and professionals recognized by the organization. The distinction arrives as Paul continues building a national profile in employee benefits while remaining closely involved with issues affecting his home city of Gary, Indiana.
Setting a New Fiduciary Standard
In October 2025, Paul became the first African American to earn the Validation Institute’s Fiduciary Advisor certification and one of the first ten advisers nationwide to achieve the designation. Superior Insurance Advisors was also independently designated a Validated Fiduciary Firm.
For Paul, the credential reinforces a position he has taken with CEOs and CFOs for years: employers should know exactly how the people advising them on healthcare are compensated.
Superior says it accepts compensation from clients rather than insurance carriers or vendors. The Validation Institute designation independently validates that fiduciary model and carries the institute’s $100,000 credibility guarantee.
“For too long, employers have funded a system built to profit carriers, not companies,” Paul said. “Becoming the first African American to earn this certification isn’t the finish line. It’s proof of the standard I’m holding the whole industry to.”
From the Boardroom to Gary
Paul’s recent visibility has extended beyond employee benefits. He was featured in a press release alongside two attorneys involved in litigation concerning NIPSCO and the Gary, Indiana power outage. For Paul, speaking about the outage reflects a broader commitment to the city where Superior Insurance Advisors is based.
That local work sits alongside a growing national platform.
At the Speakpreneur event at Chicago’s Omni Hotel on March 7, 2026, Paul appeared with Paul Getter before executives and business owners. His message centered on identifying hidden broker conflicts, examining healthcare spending more closely and helping business leaders understand their fiduciary responsibilities.
Recognition Built Around Accountability
Paul was named to Insurance Business America’s “Hot 100” in 2024 and recognized in the 2026 Health Value Awards as a charter fiduciary advisor. He is also the bestselling author of The Hidden Healthcare Gold Mine, a keynote speaker and host of The Potpourri Place Podcast Show.
The Black Leaders Worldwide recognition adds another distinction, but it also reflects the broader direction of his work. Paul is increasingly moving between two conversations that rarely occupy the same room: corporate healthcare accountability and community advocacy.
For a leader based in Gary, that combination is deliberate. His national profile may be expanding, but Paul continues to make the case that leadership carries responsibilities close to home, too.
