Meet Yas Maharaj
Today we’d like to introduce you to Yas Maharaj.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My background is in IT and security (both digital and physical) but I then received a lot of training in pharmaceuticals and manufacturing which is the field that I remain in today. I helped grow the company I was working for to new heights and climbed the ladder to eventually be the Chief Operating Officer of the company years later. I was then offered the opportunity to grow the company internationally and we then expanded to the US where we opened an office in Manhattan, New York and a warehouse in South Florida. Our business has been steadily growing and we nearly tripled our sales in 2021 from 2020 during the pandemic where I have been appointed as the CEO.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Everything in life is a trade off. You can have it all, just not at the same time. Challenges we’ve faced include theft (both physical and intellectual) of our products, counterfeiting, betrayals and bureaucracy especially in the world of pharmaceuticals. We have successfully overcome all challenges that we have been faced with and use them to strengthen our team and business to be even stronger than before. It is important to learn from any problems that occur in order to prevent a repeat of that problem.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Pharmaceutical manufacturing is our core speciality. What makes us different is that our products have been around since the 1930’s and we started with traditional herbal medicines. As time went on, we acquired newer technology to keep making our products more affordable and manufactured under the US FDA conditions and guidelines for cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice). Aside from that, we have multiple facilities worldwide and always keep our costs as low as possible, so that we can pass our savings onto the customer. This is important for us so that we can make our products affordable to as many people as possible even if they do not have adequate healthcare or insurance.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Start with the reason why you want to become successful and what your definition of success looks like. Once you’ve figured out where you want to go, all you have to do is follow the route to get there. It’s as simple as following a map and directions. But if you don’t know where you want to go, this can become challenging. My next piece of advice is finding someone who has already gotten to your destination of what success looks like to you. They can be a mentor, a coach or someone you find admirable. Be honest with them and they will be able to help you get to your destination of success.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success does not mean material gain. Success for me is how many people you have impacted throughout your life and improved their lives and circumstances in some way, shape or form. People seem to think that success is measured by material possessions, but most of the time those items are just a byproduct of achieving success. The more successful you are, the more people you have positively impacted. For us, this means making our products as affordable as possible and accessible to the largest amount of people that we can.
What’s next for you?
We’ve already laid the groundwork for North America but we’re looking at opening a facility in the Caribbean an empowering the local individuals and grow their economy. The next expansion we have is for the UK/Europe. We have nearly finalized those details and we should have our branch there soon. Our products have already been sold in these regions.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.
I like to personally respond to people, so feel free to reach out to me on any of the social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, SnapChat, Twitter, YouTube or LinkedIn. We do not have to do business together but I would love to chat to you to see how we can help make the world a better place for everyone using our networks and resources together.
