Meet Regina G. Mixon – Author and Woman of Faith
Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina G. Mixon.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I am Regina G. Mixon, a woman of faith, a woman who truly believes in and loves God, one who loves family and people in general. I am a woman who believes that with God, nothing, no thing, is impossible.
I am a mother of two, a grandmother, and even a great-grandmother. I am a person who understands my purpose and that I, myself, am a continual work in progress. Even with that understanding, I realize that I can and am free to be me…unapologetically and encourage others to do the same.
I am the author of 13 books with my most recent one being, “What Time is it in Your Life? It’s Time to Take Back Your Power and TESTIFY” All of my books are available on Amazon and other online bookstores.
I have had the privilege of speaking at schools, women’s conferences, and churches over the years; participated in several book festivals in various states & have also been the special guest on many podcast interviews.
I currently reside in the Los Angeles area but hail from Minden, Louisiana.
How did I get here? In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “I had a dream”. Actually, there were several dreams and visions which led me to where I am today. When I felt like giving up, I would either have a dream or hear God’s still small voice saying, “keep going.”
Understanding my purpose keeps me moving forward.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I began my journey of pursuing my purpose 23 years ago. Over the years I have had many ups and downs. Some of which are – making some really bad business decisions by not properly vetting people, undercharging for my services which led to almost complete financial ruin, listening to and taking advice from people who had never gone where I aspired to go, placing my immediate family in some very precarious situations which led to our being estranged for several years, getting consistent, committed team members long enough to successfully build, getting hardly any outside financial investors, the list goes on and on.
There have been unbelievable challenges! In all honesty, I would not take anything for my journey as each leg was necessary and caused me to grow – grow as a person, as a woman of faith, and in so many ways. My only wish was that it didn’t take so long to get the lessons…but God’s timing. I had to repeat a lot of tests.
Like Joseph, I told my dreams to anyone who would listen. That was a HUGE mistake.
The struggle has been real, but the rewards are well worth it.
With Women Destined to Win International, which is one of the programs under God’s Storehouse Ministries, actually the only one that has been in full operations for several years, my saving grace has been having a wonderful group of women who saw the vision, invested in and supported the vision.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I wear many hats. I am the Founder of God’s Storehouse Ministries, a 501(c)(3) organization. I am the Founder of Regina Mixon Enterprises, LLC where I serve as a Professional Certified Life & Purpose Coach. Under the umbrella of Regina Mixon Enterprises, LLC is REGS Books Publishing where, when we restart, we will handle all things as it relates to book publishing and promotions. We have assisted several in becoming first-time authors.
I have attended numerous training sessions over the years, obtaining many credentials. I am a lifetime learner and use the information in assisting others.
As a coach, I assist and guide others into pursuing their purpose by helping them break free from limiting barriers that has held them back, identify their purpose and begin the process of pursuing. I PUSH others into their greatness. As a sports coach motivates, encourages, supports, assists, and even sometimes chastise, I, too, play that role. I am their biggest cheerleader!
In my coaching, I give both spiritual and practical guidance to help one overcome whatever has been holding them back or kept them stuck from living the life God intended for them to live.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Start and do not quit! Once started, stay the course. Run your race at your own pace, but be committed, dedicated, determined, and disciplined. No dream is unattainable. It may take longer than you think, but consistency is the key.
Count up the cost before tackling an assignment…and then double it. It usually costs a lot more in the way of time, talents, and resources.
Know that your purpose is a journey and not a destination.
Gather your team. Regardless of what one’s purpose may be, you will definitely need your team players. You will need your home team or your immediate family first, and then others. Identify what and who you need in the season you are in, pray and ask God to give you discernment, and begin the journey.
There will likely be some who drop off while another comes on board. That’s par for the course. Everyone cannot, will not, and is not even intended to go the distance with you. Thank them for their service and their time spent with you and move on. Sometimes we have to pass the baton on to the next runner. Don’t look at who left. Thank God that they served in any capacity and thank them.
Disconnect from naysayers and doubters. Yes, this can be even those within your family. It may hurt for a while. It will hurt for a while. In order to do what you are called and purposed to do, it’s necessary.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me means living your life on your own terms, pursuing your dreams and visions, and staying true to who you are. Success to me is having faith in God, oneself, and others. Another definition of success for me is having good relationships with family and friends, and working the job or the business one loves. There are so many definitions, in my humble opinion, for success. Being healthy, yet another definition of success. Having finances enough to not only meet your needs but assist in meeting the needs of others.
Success is having the courage to live one’s life unapologetically knowing that you are a work in progress.
Other definitions of success–
Starting & Finishing school
Starting and working your dream job
Purchasing a home or a car you want
Success to me is not about having or obtaining a lot of physical things. Success to me is knowing God loves me, accepts and approves of me. It is about having His love and sharing with others how much He loves them.
I have lived a life of service to others. Do I consider myself successful? Yes, I do.
Each job that I have been blessed to have over the years have not only been jobs but ministries – starting as a librarian assistant to a teacher’s aide to working with a community action agency, to working with the Federal government. When one is blessed to do what they love doing, it is not a job.
What’s next for you?
During this next season of my life, I will be rebuilding. Rebuilding my home life, my business, and my ministry. I actually will not be taking on any new clients until that takes place. Everything is a process.
Over the past five years, I have bounced between Louisiana and California. It’s time that I now establish some roots somewhere. As that song says, “Trying to love two aint easy to do. It started out as lots of fun but now it’s got me on the run.” I am really dating myself. LOL
Nevertheless, my goal is to rebuild but at the same time still encouraging, assisting, and hopefully motivating others. It’s time for me and my family to reconnect. That’s the season that I am in now.
Beginning mid-2024, I or rather we, will begin to accept new clients. I have worn so many hats that I am exhausted. It’s time I rest for a minute.
I do have some people that I have agreed to work with in the interim, but until further notice, no new people are being accepted.
I also have a commitment with my current employer that I will honor.
Regina Mixon Enterprises, LLC website is under construction. That will be released once I get my team members in place. As I said, it’s a process.
Now mid-2024, there is excitement in the air. I will let some things be a secret.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
