Today we’d like to introduce you to Duante Miller ( Mixxedboy ).
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m Duante Miller known by my artist name “ Mixxedboy “ born & raised in San Diego, CA. I learned music was going to be my walk of life at a very young age. Being raised by a single mother and living in a house hold where a lot of 90’s R&B & Hiphop was played made an impact on my sound today. My first record was recorded my freshman year in high school with two of my cousins which lead to starting a group called “ Y.A.F “ ( Young & Fitted ). This was the beginning of my musical journey. My cousins and I started to perform at quinceañeras and house parties. Making are group name well known at high schools was fun while it lasted, but I never stopped pursuing my music career. Even after some of my cousins stopped making music I kept going and got into several more groups years down the line until about 7 years ago I started to pursue my own career as a solo artist. Not only have I discovered my own sound but I also created my own genre of music with a very unique style of melodic rap that I use in most of my records.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Learning the technical side the business side as well as the artist side and finding a good balance between the three to become the artist I am today.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am a singer / songwriter / rapper / producer and engineer who has worked and collaborated with various artists, producers and engineers over the course of my career. My catalog of music continues to grow every day because I record every day. One of my singles “ Home Sick “ was produced by a friend who goes by Onlysinger and engineered by Shawn Jarrett “ Source “ who is a 2x Grammy award winning Multi platinum Producer & engineer. I have done all my own networking and marketing to get me into different places such as The House of Blues, Coko Bongo in Tijuana, EDM / HipHop Festivals and various clubs in both Los Angeles and San Diego.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Be yourself and don’t let anyone or anything stop you from whatever it is your heart desires.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Being your own boss not having to answer to anyone and doing what you love while being happy in all aspects of your life.
What’s next for you?
I have my debut album called “ Loyal to Myself “ that is set to Release on October 20th.
