Atlanta’s Financial Surgeon – Taji “TJ” White
Today we’d like to introduce you to Taji “TJ” White .
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I was a child, I had a way of managing my money and I excelled in mathematics. In college, I tutored 4th and 5th-grade math students at a local Christian Academy. So, numbers and finances were always a part of my DNA. I’m originally from Miami, Florida yet when I graduated with a management degree from Florida A and M University (FAMU), I moved to Atlanta, GA. By this time, I wasn’t a stranger to starting a business and entrepreneurship being that I started my first business selling woman’s purses while in college. After some failed attempts at other businesses, I started a production company called ElasticMindz where we did music videos, commercials, event media, and graphics. I was juggling a production company and a full-time job at a call center, yet nevertheless, I was determined to succeed. I started networking with other professionals and I met with an accountant who owned a Financial firm in Atlanta and that’s when I was reunited with finances and math. I started out as an agent preparing taxes and had about six clients during my first year. Fast forward to now, I have my own Financial firm with over 400 clients where we specialize in Taxes, Investments, Retirement, Insurances, business credit, and business consulting.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Success definitely doesn’t come easy, yet it’s definitely worth the journey. You have to be resilient, creative and solution-driven because there are always things that will arise that will require a solution or a creative way to fix it. The one thing that I can say comes second nature or is somewhat easy for me is customer service. Being that I worked in a call center, it helped me to better communicate with my clients as well as build rapport and address their concerns efficiently. Some of the struggles that I dealt with along the way were other businesses that I attempted to start and they either were short-lived or just flat out failed. Those struggles created a learning experience that help me to build and maintain a strong business as well as strong business relationships.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
What sets me and True Blue Financials apart from other companies, is the fact that we have a team that is accredited to help our clients in almost every aspect of the financial realm. You would usually have to hire different professionals to help you incorporate your business, help you with investments, help you with business credit, help with retirement, taxes and bookkeeping. We specialize in all those areas. So instead of spreading yourself thin you can hire us to assess your finances comprehensively.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
I believe that taking risks is a vital part in finding success. With out risk there is no innovation. Taking risks in some cases help to distinguish the leaders from others. Yet, when you’re put in a position to take a major risk, it’s important to make sure it’s calculated and that you have a contingency plan. I can recall several times in my career that I had to step out on faith and make a risky decision. Leaving my corporate job to focus fully on my Financial Firm, and other businesses was probably one of the riskiest decisions I’ve made in my life and I’m glad I did it.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me means that I’ve given 100% to whatever I’m trying to accomplish. Whether it’s fatherhood, friendships, being a brother, a son or an entrepreneur. Ultimately success for me is an attitude and state of mind knowing that I enjoy what I’m doing, I get the opportunity to help people and make a difference in the lives of others.
What’s next for you?
I plan on relaunching True Blue University which is an avenue for my True Blue community to get information on how to build generational wealth through financial strategies and investments. I also plan on writing and publishing my first book.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
